Meet the Team-Kindergarten

Mel WojekMontessori Lead
Mel began working with children as a private tutor for three years while in Cambridge, England. Mel holds a BA in Philosophy and Psychology, Montessori Early Childhood certification from the North Carolina Center for Montessori Teacher Education and is pursuing a second Bachelor’s degree with a K-12 endorsement. Mel values that the Montessori philosophy emphasizes meeting each child exactly where they are in their developmental journey, rather than imposing an age-based curriculum. This presupposes a respect for each child as a unique individual, with unique challenges, and gifts. Mel’s hobbies include working around the house, reading, enjoying the mountains, cooking, and delighting in the company of her two “fur babies”, Roscoe and Fozzy, and my husband of 16 years, Joseph.
Kathy GonithelliAssistant Teacher
Kathy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but grew up in the Park Hill and Montbello areas of Denver. After graduating from the University of Colorado where she received a BA in English and a Teaching Certificate in Language Arts she moved to Athens, Greece. For over twenty years she taught English as a Foreign Language to Greek students from kindergarten to 12th grade. Kathy and her husband have two children–a son living in Athens, and a daughter in New York. Kathy is happy to have come full circle and to be back home again in Denver, and she is especially excited to be continuing her career working at Monarch Montessori of Denver Charter.
